Adamson trips UP in UAAP volleyball tournament

Adamson University, buoyed by its stunning upset of title favorite Far Eastern U last Sunday, scored a straight-sets 25-23, 25-15, 25-15 win over University of the Philippines on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan City. Adamson, which denied league-leading FEU the chance of sweeping the first round, again played the spoilers role when it thwarted UP's bid of share third place with National U (4-2). The Falcons' win allowed them to tie their victims and La Salle from fourth to sixth spots (3-3). Ron Jay Galang tallied 15 hits, a block and a service ace for the Falcons while teammate Armando Maleon Jr. added eight hits and three blocks. Jeffrey Lansangan carried the fight for UP with eight hits. Christopher Antonio scored 17 points to lift La Salle to a 25-23, 25-14, 25-12 win over Ateneo in the other men's match. — JVP, GMA News
