Former UST spiker Mamon is new Tigresses coach
Former University of Santo Tomas (UST) spiker and men's assistant coach Arthur "Ojie" Mamon will replace Cesael "Shaq" Delos Santos as coach of the school's women's squad starting next UAAP season. UST athletic director Fr. Ermito de Sagon, OP, appointed Mamon as the new coach of the Tigresses after Delos Santos resigned following the team's failed bid to defend the UAAP crown against La Salle last season. Mamon will also remain as an assistant to men's coach Emil Lontoc in the Tigers' bid of claiming a fifth straight title in Season 74. Delos Santos gave UST four straight titles from 2009 to 2010. Delos Santos first steered the Tigresses to the 2009 National University Games title in Dumaguete, then added the Shakey's V-League Season 7 first conference crown. UST won the 72nd UAAP women's volleyball plum then successfully defended the 2010 UniGames trophy. - JVP, GMA News
