Philippine boxing medalists in the Olympics

Boxing has been the Philippines’ bread and butter in the Olympics.

In the country’s 100 years of participation in the Summer Games, boxing has produced ten medals, more than half of the Philippines' current count of 18 medals.

The Philippines claimed its first boxing medal in the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics where Jose Villanueva bagged bronze.

Anthony Villanueva claimed the country’s first silver in 1964, while the Olympics in Tokyo three years ago produced the most medals with a total of three.

Nesthy Petecio became the first female boxer to get an Olympic medal when she bagged silver in Tokyo.

This year, boxers Petecio and Aira Villegas both claimed bronze medals.

Petecio only became Philippine boxing's two-time Olympic medalist.

While it is the sport with the most medals, boxing has yet to win its first Olympic gold.
