Bam Rodriguez hands Juan Francisco Estrada first KO loss to capture WBC world title

Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez gave Juan Francisco Estrada his first loss by way of stoppage to snatch the WBC world super flyweight title on Sunday (Philippine time) at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

Rodriguez dictated the tempo from the get-go, stalking Estrada with punches to the head and body while the latter boxed and looked to land counterpunches.

In round 4, Rodriguez caught Estrada with a sharp left straight that sent him to the canvas.

Estrada managed to beat the count, fought on, and evened the score with a knockdown of his own in round 6. The 24-year-old Rodriguez quickly got up, dusted himself, and stopped the fight once and for all with a left hand to the body in the following stanza.

The seventh-round knockout victory improved Rodriguez's perfect record to 20-0 with 13 knockouts while Estrada fell to 44-4 with 28 knockouts.
