'We are coming': Nesthy Petecio eyes Olympic gold in reunion with Paalam, Marcial
From Tokyo to Paris, the boxing trio of Nesthy Petecio, Eumir Marcial, and Carlo Paalam will once again banner the flag as they forge a reunion in the upcoming 2024 Summer Olympics.
They are targeting no less than the elusive gold medal following their podium finishes in the previous edition in Japan.
"Babalik sa Olympics na magkakasama ulit. Sobrang saya ko at pasok tayong tatlo ulit," Petecio said in a post along with a throwback photo of the trio back in the pandemic-delayed 2021 Summer Games.
Marcial was the first among them book a return trip to the quadrennial meet after reaching the finals round of the men's 80kg division in the Asian Games last year while Petecio punched her ticket during the 1st Olympic Qualifying Tournament in March, where she trooped to the finals as well of the women's 57kg category.
Paalam, meanwhile, had to wait a little longer as he only clinched a Paris berth just this Saturday after defeating Sachin Siwach of India in the men's 57kg event semifinals of the 2nd Olympic Boxing Qualification Tournament in Thailand.
In Paris, the three boxers have a chance to tie or even surpass what they achieved in Tokyo where both Petecio and Paalam bagged a silver medal while Marcial captured the bronze.
"Paris! Here we go! We are coming," Petecio added in her caption with gold medal emojis.
Joining them in the boxing events of the Summer Games is Aira Villegas.
