Canelo Alvarez drops Jaime Munguia via UD to retain undisputed title
Saul "Canelo" Alvarez made yet another successful defense of his WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF world super middleweight titles following a unanimous decision win over Jaime Munguia on Sunday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, USA.
Alvarez, 33, gauged what his foe had to offer in the early going allowing Munguia to throw combinations to the head and body. In round 4, Alvarez landed a big uppercut that sent Munguia to the canvas for the first time in his career.
Alvarez, however, was unable to finish the contest which allowed Muguia to recover and make a comeback in the following rounds, with both fighters trading hard shots to the head and body throughout the contest.
All three judges saw the fight for Alvarez after twelve rounds, improving his professional boxing record to 61-2-2 with 39 knockouts while Munguia tasted defeat for the first time as he fell to 43-1 with 34 knockouts.
