Naoya Inoue to defend title vs Luis Nery; Takuma back on the undercard
Japanese pound-for-pound superstar Naoya Inoue will return to action to defend his undisputed super bantamweight title against Luis Nery of Mexico on May 6 at Tokyo Dome in Japan.
Inoue, 26-0 with 23 knockouts as a professional boxer, became a two-division undisputed champion when he collected all the belts at the 122-pound division by defeating Marlon Tapales by way of knockout last December.
Against Nery, who is a former two-division champion, Inoue will stake his WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF world super bantamweight titles.
Also fighting on the undercard is Inoue's younger brother Takuma. Fresh off his successful title defense against Jerwin Ancajas last month, Takuma will stake his WBA world bantamweight title anew against fellow Japanese Sho Ishida.
The full fight card will see four world titles as Jason Moloney defends his WBO world bantamweight title against Yoshiki Takei while WBA world flyweight champion Seigo Akui takes on Taku Kuwahara.
