Team Ancajas promises to go all out in world title shot vs Takuma Inoue

Former super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas promised to leave no stone unturned when he challenges Takuma Inoue for the WBA bantamweight world title on February 24 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.

Ancajas, 34-3-2 with 23 knockouts as a boxer, was pushed to his very limit in training camp by his trainer and manager Joven Jimenez. The Panabo native also sparred with four different boxers in a round, a program designed to improve his gas tank.

"We are visitors so his conditioning must be all out and we go all out every minute of every round," Jimenez said.

"I have to push myself. This training is a huge help to me especially to my stamina because we do not know what Takuma would bring to the fight," Ancajas added.

Ancajas was on the verge of making history during his campaign at super flyweight after nine successful defenses of his world title. In his tenth title defense, however, Ancajas suffered a defeat against Fernando Martinez.

A rematch took place eight months later but the weight cut proved too much to handle for Ancajas. In his fight last June, his weight went up but he got back to his winning ways with a stoppage over Wilner Soto.

"Back when he was at 115 pounds it was tough for me to get in conditioning in training because a little hardship his body gives in especially in his last five fights. Now I give him hard training and I see his conditioning is great," Jimenez said.

For Ancajas, his upcoming title shot is a chance to end the Philippines' drought in world titles.

"I will work hard to get another world title for the Philippines especially now that we do not have a world champion. I want us to have a world champion early this year," he quipped.
