Jerwin Ancajas pushes self, spats four boxers and Astrolabio
Jerwin Ancajas is pushing himself in preparation for his upcoming showdown with WBA world bantamweight champion Takuma Inoue on February 24 at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo, Japan.
The 32-year-old former IBF world super flyweight champion, who holds his training at Survival Camp in Cavite, simultaneously sparred with four different boxers before going toe to toe with bantamweight contender Vincent Astrolabio.
"We are the visitors so his stamina must be all out. Every round he has to go all out every minute and every second of the fight," Ancajas' trainer and manager Joven Jimenez said.
According to Jimenez, the brutal training regimen is a simulation of the hard work that his ward would have to do in order to pull off a win in hostile territory.
Ancajas, for his part, acknowledged that the program has worked so far.
"This kind of training would break other boxers in a single round or two. Since we are visiting opponents, we have to push and tire myself [in training]. This training has been a huge help to me especially my stamina," Ancajas stated.
