Carl Jammes Martin battles Thai veteran for WBO global title
Super bantamweight prospect Carl Jammes Martin is scheduled to strut his wares anew when he takes on Thai veteran Chaiwat Buatkrathok for the vacant WBO global super bantamweight title on December 18 at the Elorde Sports Complex in Parañaque.
Martin, 22-0 with 17 knockouts as a professional boxer, is coming off a unanimous decision win over Oscar Duge last August after recovering from a rib injury he suffered earlier this year.
Buatkrathok, meanwhile, holds a professional record of 40-8 with 26 knockouts. A southpaw who competes at featherweight, the Thai veteran's showdown with Martin will be his fourth appearance inside the ring in 2023.
The WBO global title is a minor belt recently held by former three-division champion John Riel Casimero for beating Fillipus Nghitumbwa last May.
