Manny Pacquiao says working on rematch with Mayweather, open to fighting Tank Davis
Former eight-division champion Manny Pacquiao said his camp is working on a possible rematch with rival Floyd Mayweather Jr. in an exhibition targeted for December in Japan.
In an interview with Fight Hub TV, the 44-year-old Pacquiao revealed that his camp is currently negotiating with the Mayweather camp. They first met inside the ring in 2015 in a fight that has been the richest in boxing history where the Filipino lost by way of unanimous decision.
“I am still active and training. I have an exhibition match this December in Japan. We are working on it, the opponent. We are working with Mayweather,” Pacquiao said.
Back in July 2022, Pacquiao previously shoot down the idea of a rematch with Mayweather.
Another name that came up during the interview was Gervonta “Tank” Davis. Having fought in three different weight classes, Pacquiao said that he is willing to share the ring with the young American prizefighter if Davis is willing to move up to the welterweight division.
“Davis is a good fighter. If he wants, if he comes up to 147 [pounds] we can fight. 145 maybe,” Pacquiao quipped.
