Mercito Gesta suffers one-sided TKO loss to Zepeda
Former world title challenger Mercito Gesta suffered a one-sided beatdown en route to a sixth-round technical knockout at the hands of unbeaten Mexican William Zepeda earlier today at Commerce Casino in California, USA.
Gesta came out jabbing in the opening round knowing all too well that Zepeda would come forward all night. After feeling out the Filipino in the first stanza, Zepeda unleashed his non-stop aggression in round two.

The bout was all Zepeda as soon as he stepped on the gas, targeting Gesta’s head and body to slowly break the latter down. Gesta, to his credit, was game, but his lack of power and 35-year-old legs were unable to sustain his movement nor gain any respect from the rampaging Mexican.
After taking another round of unanswered flurry while on the ropes, the referee stepped in to halt the contest at the 1:31 mark of round six, improving Zepeda’s perfect record to 29-0 with 25 knockouts while Gesta dropped to 34-4-3 with 17 knockouts.
