Nonito Donaire Jr eyes becoming undisputed champion

Former four-division champion Nonito Donaire Jr. not only wants to break his record of being the oldest bantamweight world champion in history but also wants to keep going until he becomes undisputed.

The 40-year-old Donaire, 42-7 with 28 knockouts as a boxer, is slated to face Alexandro Santiago for the vacant WBC world bantamweight title this weekend at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Regardless of the result, Donaire says he will continue to fight.

"I am going to keep going, I am going to keep fighting, and I am going to get undisputed... It is strap season, you know what I am just cleaning up the house. The only thing I don't have in my record is becoming undisputed and that is my goal," Donaire said.

"Every man has to have a purpose. Without a purpose, every man is waiting to die. With me every day I wake up I am willing to go and fight everybody, bring in everybody. That is my purpose as I wake up every day wanting to be in this ring."

Donaire last saw action in June 2022 when he was defeated by Japanese pound-for-pound superstar Naoya Inoue by way of second-round technical knockout.
