Filipino boxer Regie Suganob loses in world title bid to Sivenathi Nontshinga

Filipino boxer Regie Suganob suffered a clear-cut unanimous decision loss in his first world title attempt against Sivenathi Nontshinga earlier today at the East London International Convention Centre in South Africa.

The 25-year-old previously unbeaten pug from Bohol came out jabbing, looking to dictate the tempo of the fight. Towards the end of the opening round, he was dropped with a clean right hand but was able to beat the count.

Suganob pressed the action from round two onwards, eager to land a big punch while Nontshinga circled the ring and leaned on his counterpunches and one-two combination to repeatedly outbox the Filipino and score throughout the contest.

All three judges saw the fight for Nontshinga after twelve rounds of action as he successfully defended his IBF world light flyweight title. He improved his perfect record to 12-0 with 9 knockouts while Suganob tasted his first defeat as he fell to 13-1 with 4 knockouts.
