Tank Davis ends Ryan Garcia's unbeaten streak with a body shot
Gervonta “Tank” Davis emerged victorious in the battle of undefeated boxers following a seventh-round stoppage over Ryan Garcia this Sunday (PHL time) at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, USA.
Both fighters felt each other out in the early going throwing jabs and nothing else in between. Garcia came out swinging in round two and got caught with a clean left hand that dropped him.
Garcia, to his credit, got up and recovered well from the shot but it gave Davis the confidence to start pressing the action. Garcia finally opened up and took risks in round six, landing a clean right straight to the temple.
Davis cleanly landed a left hand on the mid-section that forced Garcia to kneel in pain the following round. Unable to beat the count, Davis was declared the winner by way of knockout at the 1:44 mark of round seven.
The win improved Davis’ perfect record to 29-0 with 27 knockouts while Garcia tasted his first defeat as he fell to 23-1 with 19 knockouts.
