John Riel Casimero expresses satisfaction with Treasure Boxing Promotions

Former three-division world champion John Riel Casimero is pleased with how his boxing career is being run by Treasure Boxing Promotion.

Casimero, 32-4 with 22 knockouts as a pro, signed with the Japanese startup led by former world champion Masayuki Ito last February.

According to the Filipino prizefighter, his Japanese handlers have been very hands-on with his career thus far.

“I am very happy because they show up. They show me how they conduct their business and I show them my best too whenever I fight. They even go to small events and they are at the Elorde Awards to support their boxer,” Casimero said in an interview on Sparring Sessions.

Treasure Boxing Promotion was responsible for promoting the fight between Casimero and Ryo Akaho last December in South Korea where the Filipino eventually won by way of second-round knockout after the initial ruling of no contest was overturned.

Months before that, Casimero was stripped of his WBO world bantamweight title for violating a British Boxing Board of Control (BBBofC) rule in the United Kingdom that prohibits fighters from using the sauna to make weight for a fight. According to Casimero, all of that is in the past and he is ready to move on.

“We will start again and move on from everything. My manager and promoter told us to do not pay attention to critics. We have a good relationship with my promoter and manager, they are giving us all the opportunity,” Casimero said.

Casimero’s brother and coach Jayson, meanwhile, also lauded their current promoter.

“When they learned that Tata (John Riel) has an award (at the Elorde Awards Night), they came. When they learned that we are sparring in Cebu, they also came. They are very supportive,” Jayson chimed in.
