Naoya Inoue vs Stephen Fulton official for May 7

The unified championship showdown between three-division champion Naoya Inoue and WBC and WBO world super bantamweight champion Stephen Fulton is official for May 7 in Japan, Top Rank Boxing announced earlier today.

Inoue, unbeaten as a professional boxer with a record of 24-0 with 21 knockouts, relinquished the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF world bantamweight titles to campaign in the 122-pound division. He is coming off an eleventh-round knockout win over Paul Butler last December.

“OFFICIAL. Naoya Inoue will challenge Stephen Fulton for the Unified Junior Featherweight titles,” Top Rank announced on Facebook.

Fulton, meanwhile, is also unbeaten holding a record of 21-0 with 8 knockouts. A crafty orthodox fighter who fought just once in 2022, Fulton is known by many for defeating Brandon Figueroa, who defeated Mark Magsayo this past weekend to claim the WBC interim featherweight title.
