KJ Cataraja captures OPBF title with unanimous decision win over Heno
Pinoy prospect KJ Cataraja won the vacant OPBF super flyweight title with a unanimous decision nod over former world title challenger Edward Heno this Saturday in General Santos City.
The 27-year-old Cataraja dictated the bout with his jab, right straight, and occasional clubbing punches in the early going.
Heno was passive most of the fight seemingly waiting for Cataraja to make a mistake. In round 9, he finally caught Cataraja with a clean punch and followed up with a barrage of punches.
Hurt and overwhelmed by Heno’s attack, Cataraja held on for dear life throughout the round and needed up to the following stanza to recover.
Once recovered, Cataraja maintained control of the fight and cruised to the 12th and final round etching out a victory on the scorecards.
All three judges saw the contest for Cataraja, improving his perfect record to 16-0 with 13 knockouts while Heno dropped 15-2-6 with 5 knockouts.
In the co-main event, IBO flyweight champion Dave Apolinario scored an easy second-round technical knockout win over Indonesian journeyman Frengky Rohi.
The win moved his unblemished record to 18-0 with 13 knockouts while the visiting pug fell to 8-13-1 with 3 knockouts.
