Muhammad Ali's grandson Nico Ali Walsh named WBC's prospect of the year in 2022

Nico Ali Walsh, the grandson of the late all-time great Muhammad Ali, has been named by the World Boxing Council as the best boxing prospect in 2022.

Walsh, who holds a perfect professional record of 7-0 with 5 knockouts, won all four of his ring appearances last year with three of them by way of stoppage.

“Congratulations to Nico Ali Walsh for winning Prospect of The Year 2022!” the WBC announced.

“Nico made his debut in 2021 and this 2022 he showed that he is ready to write his own history as this year he had 4 fights with 4 wins, 3 of them by KO.”

The six-foot tall, 22-year-old Walsh has so far fought relatively weak competition in his young career but has already gone six rounds when he defeated Billy Wagner by decision last October.

A lot of hype is connected to his name being the grandson of Ali, who many feel is the greatest of all time in boxing.

Walsh is currently signed with Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum’s Top Rank and competes in the middleweight division. He does not have a scheduled fight yet for 2023.
