Pacquiao to fight in 2023 after inking deal with Japanese MMA promoter Rizin
Manny Pacquiao is set to fight in 2023 after inking a deal with Rizin Fighting Federation.
Rizin FF is a Japanese mixed martial arts organization which promotes fights.
Pacquiao made the announcement on New Year's Eve in the Saitama Super Arena in Japan.
"A few months ago, I was here as a guest and today, I have some very exciting announcement," Pacquiao said.
"I have agreed with Rizin to fight next year. The date will soon be announced and also my opponent that Rizin will choose. I'm open and excited to fight a Japanese fighter," he said.
No further details have been announced yet.
Pacquiao in December won via unanimous decision over South Korean martial artist and YouTuber DK Yoo in a six-round exhibition match.
