Naoya Inoue vs. Paul Butler undisputed showdown set for December

WBC, WBA and IBF world bantamweight champion Naoya Inoue will have the chance to become the first Japanese undisputed champion in history when he takes on the WBO world bantamweight champion Paul Butler on December 13 at Ariake Arena in Tokyo, Japan.

The 29-year-old Inoue, currently rated as the no. 2 pound-for-pound in the world by The RING, holds an unbeaten record of 23-0 with 20 knockouts and is coming off a second-round demolition of Nonito Donaire Jr. last June.

Butler, meanwhile, is coming off a unanimous decision nod over Jonas Sultan last April that saw him win the WBO interim bantamweight title. He was later promoted to world champion by the WBO after John Riel Casimero failed to defend his then world title against him twice.

"I am under no illusions as to the size of the task that faces me, but I have been going to bed dreaming of becoming the undisputed bantamweight champion of the world," Butler said.

"Inoue is a phenomenal fighter but not one person should be underestimating me, my skills, or my resolve.  I am going to Japan to write my name into the history of our sport."
