Jade Bornea reacts to criticism of Ancajas' trainer Joven Jimenez

Filipino super flyweight contender Jade Bornea has reacted to criticism surrounding Jerwin Ancajas’ coach Joven Jimenez.

Jimenez, Ancajas’ longtime trainer and manager, was hit by fans for his prizefighter’s losing effort in his tenth world title defense of the IBF world super flyweight title against Fernando Martinez this past February.

While others feel that Ancajas should get a new trainer, Bornea believes that the duo should stick together.

“They have been together for a long time and for that one instance he is getting bashed. Sometimes that would happen so we still have to support and trust them,” Bornea told Sparring Sessions LIVE.

Ancajas, 33-2-2 with 22 knockouts as a pro, will have the chance to avenge his defeat against Martinez this weekend, October 9 (Philippine time) at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, California.

“Coach Joven is good. In their ten defenses, they only lost once. I still trust coach Joven and that they can regain [the world title]. Let us pray for their victory,” Bornea stated.

“What I noticed with coach Joven is he [makes the form proper] and he wants you to be accurate with the target and not throw useless punches. That is his technique of coach Joven so I salute him.”
