Shakur Stevenson dominates Robson Conceicao, WBC and WBO remain vacant

Former two-division champion Shakur Stevenson added another win to his record following a dominant unanimous decision nod over Robson Conceicao on Saturday at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Stevenson gauged what his foe had to offer in the early goings, throwing jabs and combinations to the head and body. Conceicao was a game opponent but was getting walked down by the bigger Stevenson as early as round 4 before getting dropped with a straight left to the mid-section.

Stevenson was on the attack in round 5 as Conceicao held to survive throughout the stanza. The Brazilian came alive the next round, throwing hard combinations but was unable to faze the hometown favorite Stevenson.

The bout was all Stevenson the following rounds until Conceicao landed a couple of right hands in round 8 to show that he is still in the fight. In round 9, Stevenson was deducted a point for throwing Conceicao to the canvas.

Behind on the scorecards, Conceicao was seemingly hesitant in the final rounds which allowed Stevenson to dictate the action up to the final bell. All three judges saw the fight for Stevenson after twelve rounds of action, the scorecards were 117-109, 118-108, and 117-109.

Stevenson, who missed the super featherweight limit by 1.6 pounds, improved his flawless record to 19-0 with 9 knockouts while Conceicao fell to 17-2 with 8 knockouts. The WBC and WBO world super featherweight titles remain vacant because it was only at stake for Conceicao.
