Shakur Stevenson stripped of world titles after failing to make weight
Shakur Stevenson has been stripped of his WBC and WBO world super featherweight titles after failing to make the 130-pound limit for his upcoming fight against Robson Conceicao this weekend at the Prudential Center in New Jersey, USA.
Stevenson, an Olympic silver medalist and former featherweight world champion, tipped the scale at 131.6 pounds. He was given two hours to lose the excess weight but ultimately conceded that he could not lose the extra pounds anymore.
I gave it my all. I’ve been professional my whole career and made weight, but my body just can’t make 130 anymore. My health has to come first. I’m moving up to 135 in my next fight.

“I gave it my all. I’ve been professional my whole career and made weight, but my body just can’t make 130 anymore. My health has to come first. I’m moving up to 135 in my next fight,” Stevenson tweeted.
Conceicao, meanwhile, came in at a ready 129.6 pounds. The WBC and WBO world super featherweight titles will be on the line only for the Brazilian Olympic gold medalist. In case Stevenson wins the fight, the world titles would be declared vacant.
