WBO champ Butler would get beat up vs either Casimero or Inoue, says analyst
Veteran boxing analyst Atty. Ed Tolentino is convinced that WBO world bantamweight champion Paul Butler has the biggest problem in the 118-pound division after Naoya Inoue defeated Nonito Donaire Jr to become the unified champion.
Inoue, 23-0 with 20 knockouts as a prizefighter, currently holds the WBC, WBA and IBF world bantamweight titles and is looking to add the WBO belt to his collection. In case Inoue does not get his wish, Casimero is waiting on the side as the number one contender.
“Inoue can handle Butler, the only problem would be the sanctioning fees because there would be four titles at stake. Usually, the sanctioning fee for one belt is three percent,” Tolentino told Sparring Sessions LIVE.
If the sanctioning fees add up to too high a number for their taste, they might seek a different fight instead.
But in the case of Butler, the analyst believes he may be outmatched regardless of which one he ends up fighting.
“There is a huge gap between Inoue and Butler. Butler is not going to win that fight or he could go back to Casimero. He is stuck between a rock and a hard place. He has the biggest problem right now.”
And regardless of what happens to Butler next, Tolentino is convinced that the English boxer would have to earn his paycheck the hard way.
“Money or beating? He gets both,” Tolentino quipped.
