Devin Haney outboxes Kambosos to become undisputed lightweight champion

Devin Haney became the undisputed lightweight champion of the world following a dominant unanimous decision win over George Kambosos Jr. this Sunday at the Marvel Stadium in Melbourne, Australia.

Kambosos and Haney felt each other out in the opening round with the latter keeping the hometown favorite at bay with his crisp jabs. Kambosos was aggressive and landed punches here and there the next round but it was Haney dictating the tempo.

Kambosos' face started to get red in round 5 as Haney seemingly landed at will like target practice. Kambosos, on the other hand, did not land anything back until he caught the American with a clean left hook in round 6.

Haney stayed on his jab for the next few rounds, keeping Kambosos at his desired distance and throwing a counter right straight when the latter comes in. A hard right hand on top momentarily stunned Kambosos in round 9 which resulted in a short moment of exchange.

Haney rode his bike in rounds 11 and 12 while Kambosos fought with urgency. All three judges saw the fight for Haney after twelve rounds, the scorecards were 116-112, 116-112, and 118-110.

Haney, who now holds the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF world lightweight titles, improved his undefeated record to 28-0 with 15 knockouts while Kambosos tasted defeat for the first time as he fell to 20-1 with 10 knockouts.
