Yordenis Ugas suffered fractured orbital bone in Spence fight
Yordenis Ugas has suffered a fractured orbital bone in his fight against the newly crowned unified WBC, IBF, and WBA world welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr.
Ugas, the former WBA world welterweight champion, fought Spence this weekend at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington where the latter emerged victorious via tenth-round technical knockout.
Ugas' right eye was totally shut after the bout.
"I have a fracture in my eye and in the next few days the doctors will say how they will treat it. Last night I spent all morning in a hospital and I write these words with only one eye, the other one is still closed," Ugas wrote on Instagram.
Spence, 32, was supposed to take on Manny Pacquiao last year but had to withdraw from the fight after he suffered a detached left retina that required surgery.
Now holding three of the four major belts, the world awaits his highly-anticipated showdown with WBO world welterweight titleholder Terence Crawford.
