Errol Spence Jr. batters Yordenis Ugas to unify welterweight titles
Errol Spence Jr. unified the WBC, WBA, and IBF world welterweight titles following a one-sided beatdown of Yordenis Ugas this Sunday at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, USA.
Both fighters opened the contest with jabs to the head and body. Spence upped the tempo in round two, throwing punches on top and the mid-section while Ugas waited for an opportunity to land a counter.
Spence got into his rhythm in round 4 smothering Ugas with punches in bunches to the head and body yet again. Ugas was hurt from the heavy combinations Spence unleashed in round 5 that backed him up for the first time in the fight.
Ugas came back in round 6 six hurting Spence with a right hand that sent him flying to the ropes only to see the latter pour everything he has on him the following round. Spence was relentless from round 8 onward while Ugas offered nothing in return.
Spence’s relentless assault eventually shut Ugas’s right eye, prompting the referee to halt the contest at the 1:44 mark of round ten.
