Errol Spence Jr. has no regrets about missing Pacquiao sweepstakes

WBC and IBF world welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. does not regret missing out on the Manny Pacquiao sweepstakes.

Spence and Pacquiao were supposed to share the ring last August, but the former had to withdraw from the fight because of an injury that paved way for Yordenis Ugas, who pulled an upset against the Filipino, to take his place for what would have been a career payday.

“I don’t regret it, I feel like everything happens for a reason,” Spence said during his media workout.

“If I would have fought him, I probably would have been blind in my eye and lost my career. Everything happens for a reason. I just got to take the punches and roll with it.”

Spence, 27-0 with 21 knockouts as a prizefighter, is now slated for a unification showdown with Ugas (27-4, 12KOs) on April 16 at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, USA. He leaves the what could have been Pacquiao fight in the past and is laser-focused on Ugas alone.

“I’ve been looking forward [to this fight] since I dropped out of the Pacquiao fight. I knew I’d be looking at either Pacquiao or Ugas. It’s Ugas now,” Spence stated.
