Vargas vs. Magsayo in play for July –report
Former WBC world super bantamweight champion and featherweight contender Rey Vargas could be up next for WBC featherweight world champion Mark Magsayo.
According to a report by boxingscene.com, Team Vargas is in advanced talks with the Magsayo camp for a showdown in July.
The world championship showdown is being eyed for Al Haymon's Premier Boxing Champions should the fight come to fruition.
The 26-year-old Magsayo (24-0, 16KOs) became a world champion for the first time when he defeated an injured Gary Russell Jr. via decision to claim the WBC title last January.
Vargas, meanwhile, also holds an unbeaten record of 35-0 with 22 knockouts. Known for his lanky build, the Mexican fighter has not won a fight via stoppage since 2016.
