Casimero faces abuse, lasciviousness complaints; 'Fabricated,' camp says
Three-division boxing world champion John Riel Casimero is facing a case of “Acts of Lasciviousness and RA 7610” for alleged events involving a minor that transpired in June last year.
Republic Act No. 7610 is known as the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act.
The Southern Police District confirmed to GMA News Online that a case was filed against Casimero at the Taguig City Police Station last February 11.
According to information obtained from a source, the case involves the alleged molestation of a 17-year-old, whom the boxer had invited to his hotel room last year.
Casimero, 31-4 with 21 knockouts as a professional boxer, is currently in the USA to train for his upcoming title defense against Paul Butler on April 22 at the Echo Arena in Liverpool, United Kingdom.
GMA News Online reached out to Casimero for a comment but the boxer has yet to respond to the messages.
His brother and trainer, Jayson Casimero, though, said the complaint was “fabricated” and that their camp knows who is behind the case. He also stated that their lawyer will issue a statement regarding the matter.
