Mark Magsayo on WBC featherweight title: It's a dream come true

Dreams do come true and Filipino fighter Mark Magsayo achieved this today.

On Sunday, Magsayo won his first world boxing title, dethroning Gary Russell, Jr. for the WBC featherweight title.

After the upset victory, Magsayo said the title was a 'dream come true.'

"This [has been] my dream since I was a kid, since I'm an amateur, and now I'm a professional and a world champion," Magsayo said in a post-fight interview.

"I'm so proud that I'm a champion now," he said, thanking all the Filipinos who supported him.

Asked if he was willing to fight Russell again because of the latter's injury, Magsayo said it would be up to his promoter Sean Gibbons.

"But I'm willing to fight anybody now. I'm a champion now!"

With the win, Magsayo maintained his undefeated record and improved to 24-0 with 16 knockouts.
