Pinoy pug Jade Bornea wins title eliminator in Mexico
Unbeaten Filipino prospect Jade Bornea punched his way to world title contention following a third-round knockout over Mohammed Obaddi this Saturday (PH time) in Monterrey, Mexico.
The 26-year-old Bornea gauged his foe in the opening round throwing calculated punches to the head and body. He then upped the pace in round two, but it was a perfectly placed left uppercut to the body in the third that reduced his foe to a knee.
Unable to beat the count, the referee waved the contest in round three, improving Bornea’s perfect record to 17-0 with 11 knockouts while Obaddi dropped to 22-2 with 13 knockouts.
The win also means that Bornea is in line to challenge for the IBF world super flyweight world title currently held by another Filipino Jerwin Ancajas since 2016.
