Ancajas open to move up in weight or become undisputed after Ioka fight
Reigning IBF world super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas will carefully explore his options should he win his next bout.
Ancajas, who made nine successful defenses of his title, is scheduled to face WBO world super flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka in a unification fight on December 11 at the Ota-City General Gymnasium.
"If I get to win another belt, my next move would depend on the plans of my coach and Sean Gibbons. They know what is better for me," said Ancajas in Filipino.
"For now my focus is on Ioka. Whatever their plans are, I have no problem whether I stay at super flyweight or go up in weight."
Ancajas has long expressed his desire to move up a weight class. Though he maintained that he is laser-focused on winning his next bout first, Ancajas said that another lucrative choice is to go for an undisputed matchup with the WBA and WBC 115-pound titleholder Juan Francisco Estrada.
"If I win another title from Ioka perhaps it would not be as hard to fight other champions. Perhaps they would even call me out," Ancajas said.
"I think Estrada wants nothing else but become undisputed. I think fighters in my weight class I think everyone wants to be undisputed which is one of the reasons why I'm still here. If blessed with all four belts it means I am the king of my division."
