Jonas Sultan US bound to help Jerwin Ancajas prepare for unification bout with Ioka
Jonas Sultan is flying back to the USA to help IBF world super flyweight champion Jerwin Ancajas prepare for his unification with WBO world super flyweight champion Kazuto Ioka on December 31 Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan.
Fresh off his thrilling unanimous decision win over Puerto Rican prospect Carlos Caraballo last month, the newly crowned WBO intercontinental bantamweight champion says he is returning the favor to Ancajas, who helped him in training camp for his latest outing.
“I will help him train and assist coach [Joven Jimenez] for the fight. I will go there to support Jerwin. He was a huge help when I won against Caraballo now it is my turn to return the help he gave me,” Sultan said.
Sultan will fly to the USA on December 11 and will serve as Ancajas’ sparring partner. Having seen Ioka’s fights in the past, Sultan is confident that his fellow Filipino will emerge victorious even in hostile territory.
“I saw Ioka's fights, he is a real fighter. Jerwin is smart when he fights so he knows how to handle every opponent. Whatever Ioka does, Jerwin will adapt because he is a tactical fighter,” Sultan noted.
“Jerwin wins this fight by TKO. It won't last ten rounds.”
