Yordenis Ugas willing to give Manny Pacquiao a rematch: 'A legend like that deserves it'
Will boxing fans be able to see a part two of the Manny Pacquiao-Yordenis Ugas bout? The Cuban fighter expressed his willingness to the idea.
Ugas, who notched an upset victory over the Filipino boxing icon on Sunday, said he does not mind giving the eight-division world champion another shot at the WBA welterweight title if ever he asks for a rematch in the future.
"Manny is a great legend, great fighter," Ugas said in Spanish after the thrilling 12-round match at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
"If he wants a rematch, no question about it. A legend like that deserves it."
Pacquiao is already at the tail-end of his legendary career which saw him win 62 matches while losing in eight appearances.
Of all his fights, Pacquiao had several rematches with some of his memorable opponents like Juan Manuel Marquez, Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, and Timothy Bradley.
There were also some talks of a rematch between Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. after their bout back in 2015 where the American boxer walked away with a unanimous decision victory.
But whether he'll step onto the ring again remains in limbo as Pacquiao will still weigh his options before coming up with a final decision.
"In my heart I want to continue to fight but I also have to consider my body. I have to consider a lot of things, especially my work back in the Philippines. There’s a lot of work I need to accomplish," Pacquiao said in the post-match press conference.
