Pacquiao to Olympic silver medalist Carlo Paalam: 'You fought a good fight'

Manny Pacquiao commended the gallant fight displayed by Carlo Paalam — one of many rising boxers in the Philippines who could be treading the same path as his.

In a Twitter post Saturday, the eight-division world champion Pacquiao said he was still proud of Paalam despite him falling short of the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics after bowing to Galal Yafai of Great Britain.

Paalam lost via split decision, 4-1, to claim the silver in the men's flyweight division.

Paalam put the icing on the cake for the Philippine team, which has set a record for most medals in a single Olympic appearance with weightlifter Hidilyn Diaz winning a gold while boxers Nesthy Petecio and Eumir Marcial snared a silver and bronze, respectively.
