Day of reckoning awaits Spence in Pacquiao fight, predicts Quinito Henson
Veteran sports analyst Quinito Henson believes that WBC and IBF world welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. is in for a surprise when he takes on Manny Pacquiao on August 21 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
“Spence has never fought a fighter quite as powerful and fast as Pacquiao,” Henson said.
“This is going to be a day of reckoning for him. I don't think he expects someone like Pacquiao coming at him. I think in the back of his mind, he'll know he is facing a legend. And when the fight ends, he'll know that he lost to a legend.”
Henson, who has covered Pacquiao’s boxing career extensively, shared that he was able to spot some flaws in Spence’s arsenal that the Filipino boxing icon could exploit. Though convinced that Pacquiao would win the fight, he can’t however tell for sure if it is going to be by knockout.
“I also see that Spence has a huge weakness that I am sure Manny would exploit. He always wants to be at the center of things because he needs to get his feet set to throw combinations. He will try to control the fight with his jab but if you make him turn he loses his technique,” he noted.
“Manny is going to dominate this. I do not know however if Manny can put Spence away [though] I would like to see Spence go away on his back. I think he is very capable if he gets Spence flash in the jaw, I don't think Spence has tasted the power quite like Pacquiao, he might go down.”
