Nonito Donaire knocks out Oubaali to claim the WBC world bantamweight title

Nonito Donaire is a world champion again at 38 years old following a fourth-round knockout over the previously unbeaten Nordine Oubaali at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, USA.

Oubaali got off to a quick start throwing jabs on top and straight left hand to the head and body. Donaire felt his opponent out, throwing calculated shots as Oubaali darted in and out.

Oubaali stepped on the gas in round two while Donaire started to unleash his patented counter-left hook.

Oubaali got caught with the trademark left hook twice and got dropped twice in round three but was saved by the bell.

Donaire stalked the following round then took him out for good with a hard left uppercut.

The stoppage came at the 1:52 mark of round 4, improving his record to 41-6 with 27 knockouts while Oubaali tasted his first defeat as he fell to 17-1 with 12 knockouts. — LA, GMA News
