Pacquiao greets Coach Freddie Roach on his birthday
Boxing icon and incumbent Senator Manny Pacquiao on Saturday turned to Twitter to post a birthday greeting for longtime coach Freddie Roach.
"Happy Birthday to the best trainer in the world, my mentor, my best friend, @FreddieRoach," Pacquiao said in a tweet.
Roach in turn posted a message for Pacquiao on Instagram, thanking the boxing champ and reposting their photos together.
"Thank you, Manny. You’ve been with me longer than any boxer I’ve ever worked with. I’m grateful for that. Thank you very much for the birthday post today ... #Repost @mannypacquiao," he wrote.
Coach Freddie turned 61 on March 5.
He was the one who trained Pacquiao for many years and helped turn him into champ form.
However, their coaching relationship was cut in 2018 when Roach was taken off Team Pacquiao.
After a few months, Roach was invited to be consultant and strategist of Pacquiao.
Hall of Fame coach Roach is also training Pinoy boxer Eumir Felix Marcial. —KG, GMA News
