Ryan Garcia breaks down his KO win over Campbell, thanks Canelo Alvarez for mentorship
Rising star Ryan Garcia knew exactly how he was going to end Luke Campbell.
The pair squared off inside the ring this past weekend where Garcia got up from a knockdown to come back and win via knockout in round 7 to claim the WBC interim lightweight title.
It was a left hook to the body that brought Campbell to his knee, a punch that Garcia predicted would win him the contest that evening.
“I knew it was going to be a body shot long ago because God told me so,” Garcia told DAZN.
“He was very worried about that hook coming. I've had that hook since the day I was born. He thought I was going up top then I just changed direction on him real quick.”
The 22-year-old Garcia, who now has a record of 21-0 with 18 knockouts, also expressed his gratitude towards pound-for-pound king Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez and his team for mentoring his career.
“Without the Reynosos and Canelo being around my side all the time I don't know if I would've learned all the things I learned,” he said.
“I am always grateful for having a good team around me. I'm blessed to have such a great team in Eddy and Canelo. They are amazing guys they take me under my wing and they show me the ropes. I thank you guys with all my heart.” -- BAP, GMA News
