Adrien Broner thrown in jail for contempt of court
Former four-division champion Adrien Broner will be spending time behind bars after he was thrown in jail for contempt for failing to pay more than $800,000 to a woman he assaulted at a nightclub in 2018, according to a report by cleveland.com.
Judge Nancy Margaret Russo found that Broner failed to cooperate with the deadlines and extensions given to him after he posted a video on Instagram flaunting stacks of cash.
Russo has ordered Broner to remain in jail until he provides truthful information surrounding his finances.
“This is a problem Mr. Broner because you have ignored basically every order I have given you,” said Russo.
“And now there is a punishment. I have given you extensions, I have given you time. I trust you’re going to get this done well before your January fight.”
Broner, 31, last saw action inside the ring against Manny Pacquiao in 2019 where he lost by way of unanimous decision. He holds a professional record of 33-4-1 with 24 knockouts. – JM Siasat/RC, GMA News
