Mike Tyson confirms postponement of comeback vs Roy Jones
Former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson has validated recent reports that his comeback against Roy Jones Jr. has been postponed to a later date.
The 54-year-old Tyson and 51-year-old Jones were originally scheduled to lock horns on September 12, but it has been moved to November 28 after the former saw an opportunity to maximize the profit for his upcoming fight.
The pair is slated to compete in an eight-round exhibition bout that will air on the Triller app pay-per-view for a price tag of $49.99.
"Changing the date to November 28th will give more people the opportunity to see the biggest comeback in boxing history," Tyson told TMZ.
"This temporary inconvenience will last longer than Roy Jones Jr. He better be ready, I'm coming full force."
While the upcoming bout of the two boxing legends is dubbed as an exhibition, judges will be tapped to score the fight and a special belt from one of the four major sanctioning bodies will be awarded to the winner.
Tyson last saw action inside the ring against Kevin McBride in 2005 when he lost by way of sixth-round technical knockout. Jones, meanwhile, last fought Scott Sigmon in 2018 when he went the distance and won via unanimous decision. —MGP, GMA News
