Ex-world champ predicts Mike Tyson will gas out after 4 rounds then maybe bite an ear off

Former heavyweight world champion Mike Tyson could be huffin’ and puffin’ for dear life after 4 rounds into his scheduled 8-round exhibition against Roy Jones Jr., according to ex-super middleweight world champ Carl Froch.

Tyson and Jones are slated to lock horns on Sept. 12 in Carson, California, but the fight has been reportedly rescheduled to Nov. 28.

Tyson’s comeback which will air on pay-per-view for a price tag of $49.99 will be his first trip inside the ring since he suffered a 6th-round technical knockout loss at the hands of Kevin McBride in 2005.

“Would he lose the plot like he did against Holyfield and take a chunk of the old ear off? There could be a danger where he gets frustrated,” Froch told on his podcast.

“Those 16-ounce gloves are going to be more difficult to knock his opponent out. And then they’re going to be blowing out of their a** after three or four rounds.”

The English was referring to Tyson’s known incident in 1997 where he bit Evander Holyfield’s ear out of frustration. The fight, of course, ended in via disqualification in round 3.

Tyson’s trip back inside the ring received mixed reactions since its announcement. As for Froch, he doubts that a fight between a 54-year-old Tyson and a 51-year-old Jones will go the distance—let alone not end in an embarrassing disaster.

“We’re blowing out of our a** after 4 rounds as young professional fighters. We just manage the recovery and breathe differently and go a bit flat-footed through the fight,” he said.

“When you’re in your 50s, you’re absolutely exhausted and you can’t recover. Your fitness is your ability to recover and you can’t recover when you’re old. So there is a danger of this becoming a no-contest after four rounds, there really is.” – JM Siasat/RC, GMA News
