Errol Spence Jr. says he's in a crossover bout against Mikey Garcia

MANILA - Reigning IBF world welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. believes that his upcoming title defense against four-division champion Mikey Garcia would be far from being a walk in the park.

The pair are scheduled to clash inside the ring on March 16 (March 17 PHL time) at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, USA.

"This is definitely one of those crossover fights for me. Garcia is the biggest name to date that I’m fighting on American soil," said Spence.

"It’s just great being so young in my career, fighting in my first pay-per-view and fighting with a guy like Garcia who brings over a different fan base."

The 29-year-old Spence will enjoy a huge size advantage over Garcia, and is touted as a heavy favorite to emerge victorious on fight night.

Spence however is not taking his foe for granted as he promises to show up in no less than in excellent shape for the fight.

"You can tell how I looked ten weeks ago compared to how I look now. I’m not overlooking Garcia. I’m in tip-top shape, slim and ready," Spence said.

"If you know me and you know my boxing style, you know I’m never in a boring fight. Even if it’s just me beating up my opponent, or them just being hurt, I’m always going to try to stop my opponent and put on a spectacular performance." — DVM, GMA News
