Pacquiao aims to score a knockout against Broner
Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao is looking to score a knockout when he defends his WBA welterweight title against Adrien Broner on January 19 (January 20 PHL time) at MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Pacquiao, 40, is coming off a technical knockout victory over Argentina's Lucas Matthysse in his last fight this past July. The stoppage victory ended Pacquiao's 9-year knockout drought.
He now aims to make it a back-to-back KO win when he meets Broner inside the ring.
"I am not making a prediction but my goal is to knock out Broner. I am looking for a knockout against Broner. I have to maximize the opportunity," Pacquiao said.
"I forgot how much fun winning a fight by knockout was until I stopped Lucas Matthyssee last summer to win the WBA welterweight title. It felt great to win that way and the fans loved it too, so why not try for it again?"
The Filipino boxing icon even admits that he likes his counterpart, but says the upcoming title showdown between them is purely business.
"I have nothing personal against Adrien Broner. This fight is strictly business. He is fun. He makes me laugh. He knows how to sell himself and to sell a fight." — LA, GMA News
