Pacquiao’s family supports his decision to keep boxing

Senator Manny Pacquiao's family on Tuesday expressed full support for his decision to continue boxing despite their own concerns for his health.

In a report by Mav Gonzales on Balitanghali, Jinkee Pacquiao said that she could not watch her husband get hit in the ring as time passed.

She added that for her and their daughters, Pacquiao retiring on a win was preferable to seeing her husband leave boxing with a string of losses.

"Minsan 'di mo na mapigilan iiyak ka na lang. Yon ang na-feel ko ngayon. 'Di ko na siya masyado tinitingnan, sa ring talaga na naka-focus ako manood. Kumbaga, ganon, yuko, then pinapakinggan ko yung mga tao kung anong reaction nila," Jinkee said.

The couple's brood consists of three boys and two girls.

Pacquiao's daughter, Princess, said it was her father's choice to continue his career even if she does not enjoy seeing her father get hit.

"It's his choice if he wants to fight or not. If he wants to fight more, just be careful 'cause I don't wanna see my father get really hurt," she said.

Pacquiao became the new World Boxing Association welterweight champion on Sunday upon his defeat of Lucas Matthysse at Kuala Lumpur.

It was the 39-year-old senator's first knockout win since 2009. Pacquiao himself believes that he has two or three more fights in him before he has to retire from boxing. — Rie Takumi/BM, GMA News
