Mommy D not nervous about Pacquiao's fight vs. Matthysse, says 'sanay na'
Dionesia Pacquiao, mother of boxing champ and Senator Manny Pacquiao, on Sunday said she is not nervous about her son's fight against Argentinian boxer Lucas Matthysse in Kuala Lumpur.
"Sanay na ta diyan," Mommy D told GMA News' Mav Gonzales in an interview at Pacquiao's dressing room a few hours before the scheduled fight at the Axiata Arena.
"Matagal na siyang naglaban," she said.
Mommy D said she visited her son at his room on Saturday night and told his visitors to go home so Pacquiao could sleep early.
"Sabi ko last na 'to bisita," she said.
Mommy D said she herself went back to her room early so they could all get a good night's sleep.
Pacquiao's wife Jinkee on Sunday said the boxer is well-rested. "Humihilik pa nga kagabi," she added.
On Sunday, Pacquiao had a meal of Filipino dishes before heading to the arena.
President Rodrigo Duterte is expected to watch the fight for the welterweight title.
GMA-7 will air the fight on free TV at 10 a.m., with radio coverage to be handled by Super Radyo dzBB. —KG, GMA News
