Casimero wins world title in China
The Philippines has a new boxing world champion after Johnriel Casimero stopped Amnat Ruenroeng of Thailand to snatch the IBF world flyweight title Wednesday night at Diamond Court in Beijing, China.
The world title showdown was a rematch between the two combatants with Ruenroeng winning the first bout in a foul-marred title fight.
This time, however, the 26-year-old Casimero didn't allow the former world title holder to get away with his dirty tricks as he decked his Thai foe twice in the fourth round to secure a knockout win.
The victory made Casimero a two-division world champion, improving his record to 22-3 with 14 knockouts while Ruenroeng tasted his first defeat dropping his record to 17-1 with 5 knockouts. — APG, GMA News
