Casimero gets another crack at world title

Former world light flyweight champion Johnriel Casimero will get another chance to snatch the IBF world flyweight when he battles Amnat Ruenroeng in a rematch on May 25 at Diamond Court in Beijing, China.

Casimero, 26, failed in his first attempt against Ruenroeng in June last year, losing by unanimous decision in a foul and wrestling-marred contest.

Casimero, who holds a record of 21-3 with 13 knockouts, has been off the ring for almost a year since that fateful night while Ruenroeng (17-0, 5KOs) has only fought once since then.

Other than the defending Thai champion, Casimero will also face Filipino trainer Aljoe Jaro in the opposite corner come fight night. — APG, GMA News
